...the history of the Funen Village

The Funen Village opened up to the public in 1946. Back the museum consisted of only 8 houses, today we have 26 buildings.

Originally the museum was intended to communicate the history of old farm houses, build in half timber and with thatched roofs. In the beginning of the 20th Century these buildings were disappearing from the Funen countryside. By the establishment of the Funen Village it was hoped that the memory of the old style of building would not vanish.

 
 

Eating facilities

You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks into The Funen Village.

At "Havehuset" behind "Davinde Vandmølle" you can enjoy your food inside as well as outside. You can eat your own sandwiches inside "Husmandsstedet fra Lunge Bjerge". In the apple orchard near "Væbnergården" and "Boelstedet" there are several benches and tables. You are also welcome to eat your lunch outside "Præstegården".

At the Visitor's Centre and "Husmandsstedet fra Lunge Bjerge" you can buy ice creams, sweets and hot & cold drinks. You can also buy a rustic picnic lunch bag with homemade delicacies.

Inside The Funen Village you find "Sortebro Kro", which boasts top-quality cuisine. Within walking distance from the Village you can visit Jensens Bøfhus (Jensen's Steakhouse) and Restaurant Carlslund (traditional Danish food).
