The majority part of Hans Christian Andersen’s drawings derive from his two journeys: “Educational Journey” to Italy 1833-34 and “Oriental Journey” to Greece and Turkey 1840-41. The drawing above bears the title: “Public-house Room in Pianore Between Florence and Bologna April 16 1834”.
...The well-known Christmas song "Barn Jesus i en Krybbe laae" (The Jesus Child Lay in a Manger)
is written by Hans Christian Andersen. The song is printed in the cycle of poems, Aarets tolv Maaneder, tegnede med Blæk og Pen (The Twelve Months of the Year, Drawn by Ink and Pen), from 1832. The song is set to music by composers such as Niels W. Gade, J.C. Gebauer, and - which is less known - Robert Schumann.

On 18 June 1964, the Soviet leader, Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev, visited the museum with a large security detail.Three months later the Soviet leader was deposed by a coup d'état, lead by Leonid Brezhnev. It was a lot more peaceful, although a draw as well, when Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon visited The Hans Christian Andersen Museum as part of a "British Week" in Denmark. In the picture below to the right you can see: from the left: Lord Snowdon, Chairman of the museum-board Knud Nielsen, princess Benedikte, the successor to the Danish throne, princess Margrethe og princess Margaret.
